Squeezing it all in
This past Saturday, I joined up with JK for some riding up high west of Town. After a liberal application of coffee, we rode/hiked some new to me trails off of Old Flowers and had a solid day with lots of vertical. The big races of the summer are creeping up fast and the stuff up high is just starting to dry out which equates to lots of work to do in the next few months! I'll let the pictures tell the story.
We rode over some rocks
Hiked over other rocks
Hiked around/over plenty of water
We even raced some cattle for bragging rights on the road.
Oh yeah, did I mention we hiked alot?
All in all, it was a good day out and right as we finished up some sprinkles started to fall. Good timing in my book.
Sunday, I headed down to Castle Rock to race the Ridgeline Rampage 60 miler. The plan was to have it be the final nail in the coffin of a big training block that started with the Growler and finished Sunday. I certainly didn't have a whole lot of snap but surprisingly, that proved to be a good governor and kept me in check.
I finished up 4th in the SS class with a time of ~ 4:40 (20 seconds off of the podium, and ~2:30 off of 2nd place). All things considered I'm happy with the result considering who the other cats in the race were and the level of fatigue in my legs at the start line. Sure wish I had known it was that close towards the end however.
The bother raced as well and had a good day taking the win in the 19-29 class, beating out 2nd by 37 seconds.
Now that's a good weekend in my book!
